"Cliche Killers" sample art

"Cliche Killers" was conceived as an arcade beat-em-up with a bit of  wall-breaking - the characters would gradually realize the ridiculous formula of their surroundings, and determine that each level took place inside of an extradimensional creature which feeds on unoriginal thought, and can augment reality to accommodate. As for why an allegedly "cliche" universe would be populated with knife-and-fork yielding frog and octopus robots - it's likely due to the insecurity the younger me felt regarding human characters. Fully understandable. I'm quite happy to have given up on pixel art and retro games not long after this, as indie development is far too saturated with this type of thing for my tastes.
